Content

The course consists of a series of lectures aimed at learning and sharing experiences. Challenges to balance of payments compilation arising from changes in the global economy will be discussed. The course will include case studies designed to integrate the knowledge acquired in external sector statistics and the analysis of such statistics.

Objetive

Provide an in-depth understanding of the concepts, data sources, and compilation techniques of balance of payments and IIP statistics, as well as their application to address complex methodological issues.

At the end of the course, participants are expected to be able to: i) Apply the knowledge acquired to address complex methodological and compilation problems related to balance of payments and IIP statistics; ii) Identify data sources and compilation techniques to improve the coverage of globalization-related activities in external sector statistics; and iii) Have a broad understanding of the analytical uses of balance of payments and IIP.

Aimed at

Central bank officials responsible for the compilation of external sector statistics, both balance of payments and international investment position, and who are familiar with the methodology of the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual, Sixth Edition (BPM6).
